Below is a list and description of our direct access facilities in Monterey Bay, CA.
MBARI Test Mooring
Still in development.
RV Dauphin
The Dauphin is a 22-foot (Radon style) outboard with a large aft deck and detachable 200 pound davit. The vessel is trailered to Monterey harbor for launch and keeps within a 10-15 mile range. On a good day it can make it around to Carmel Bay. HMS staff must captain this vessel.

Facilitated Access
Spray Gliders
MBARI and CeNCOOS operate several spray gliders along the California coast. These workhorse systems are often operating long durations. Advanced notice and planning would be required to evaluate hardware on these platforms.
Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
MBARI operates several classes of AUVs from Moss Landing Harbor. These platforms are generally booked out a year in advance and would require careful planning to incorporate technology from outside organizations.
Wave Glider
MBARI operates wave gliders from Moss Landing Harbor which are able to remain at sea for weeks to months with a scientific equipment payload. Advanced notice and planning would be required to evaluate hardware on these platforms.
